Immunizations

What is Immunizations In Palm Beach Gardens, FL?

We know that it’s not always easy for parents to watch their newborn or child get shots during their routine checkups; however, immunizations are designed to protect your child Little Boy Getting An Immunization Shot from many communicable diseases that could lead to serious and even fatal health complications. Immunizations are important for all children, and the pediatric team here at Children’s Physicians has been keeping kids vaccinated and healthy for more than 60 years.

Vaccines are Safe

One of the most common questions we get from parents is whether vaccines are safe for their children. We understand the concerns that parents have about vaccines, but rest assured that all vaccines have been extensively tested and approved by the FDA. Vaccines trigger the body to produce the antibodies necessary to protect your child from certain illnesses, and vaccines typically have an inactive or weakened form of the virus. Millions of children in the US safely get vaccinated every year.

Vaccines Prevent Disease

The reason vaccines are important and necessary for children is that it prevents the spread of disease. Yes, we know that polio and other diseases are rather rare these days, but they are still alive and well in other areas of the globe and can be spread to those who aren’t vaccinated. Many of these diseases are rare now that we have vaccines, which keep people protected. If children did not get vaccinated, chances are good you’d see these diseases reemerging. Vaccines also protect the community at large, particularly very ill and immunocompromised individuals that may not be able to get vaccinated.

Vaccine Side Effects are Typically Minor

We know that some parents have reservations or may hesitate to get their children vaccinated but it’s important to understand that it is very rare for a vaccine to cause a serious reaction. Mild reactions may occur, but they typically range from soreness at the injection site to fever or chills. These symptoms are minor and will go away on their own within a day or two.

Our Vaccine Philosophy

Our practice believes that all children should receive the recommended vaccines according to the guidelines provided by the AAP and the CDC. Vaccines are safe and effective in preventing diseases and health complications in children and young adults. Regular vaccinations help children ward off infections, and are administered as one of the safest and best methods of disease prevention.
